WHAT'S THE DEAL?!

Hazelwood Studios, almost midnight, one of those
days: we are in the middle of recordings for "...
on the Trail of Dr. Brain" when something bangs
on the studio door. This something is about 1.75
m high, packed in a 1.95 m Army parka and peeps
cheekily from behind 1960 standard framed glasses.
"Hey, I’m Lennart, and I got some songs
for you."
An estimated week later we are back in the studio
again, this time with the man in the oversized jacket
– recording "What’s the Deal?!"
in just four days. It’s that simple when somebody
lives the music. Lennart A. Salomon intones his
splendid stories unpretentiously, and in doing so
he is so impudently funky and ingenious that you
ask yourself in amazement whether the vintage ‘78
in his passport is off a few decades. |
