BIOGRAPHY
Hiding behind the synonym "DM BOB & JEM FINER" is the louisiana native, Garage-master
(and producer of the King Khan & BBQ Show!)
BOB TOOKE and Londoner JEM FINER, cofounder of the
folk-punk legends: THE POGUES. In October 2004,
shortly before the untimely death of BBC 1 Radio
legend JOHN PEEL, Bob and Jem did one of the last
of the world famous PEEL SESSIONS. This was Bob´s
second session and he also appeared in the BBC film
"On the Road with John Peel" gaining a
bit of immortality along the way.But nearer to immortal
is Jem Finer with his "LONGPLAYER"
project. Between 1995 and the end of 1999 created
his millennium piece - a musical composition to
last 1000 years without repeating itself. Longplayer
is physically running in a lighthouse over looking
the Thames in East London, in the planetarium of
the Alexandria Library in Egypt, in a theatre in
Brisbane and a park near Nottingham England. It
is also playing live on the internet. More recently
Jem has been working as artist in residence in the
Oxford University Astrophysics department, building
sculptural observatories, listening to the sounds
of deep space and playing 50´s sci fi rock
n roll with his band of astrophysicists, "Big
Eyed Beans from Venus". Other musical odds
